PRIVATE PIANO LESSONS
Intermediate to Advanced Classical Pianists
Online lessons are taught via Forte Lessons, with industry-leading live streaming audio quality. While I have professional audio equipment, you don't even need an external mic. Just an iPad or computer. You'll be invited to my Forte Lessons Online Teaching Studio and you'll be sent a recording of the lesson shortly after. I'll take lesson notes in the Forte app that you'll have instantly when the lesson ends.
In person lessons can be arranged on the Monterey Peninsula.
Get your 6th lesson free with the 6-Lesson Package. Also includes a Guided Visualization recorded by Lisa Spector, customized for a specific piece of music (your choice) to help you practice with joy and ease.
You'll be amazed at how much we'll accomplish in an hour. If you're playing a larger work, i.e. Bach Suite, Beethoven Sonata, Chopin Ballade, we'll need to devote time to establish smart practice habits so you can learn faster.
You need to learn how to practice smart. I'm here to help you do that so you can focus on what's really important…. effortlessly making music with your heart.
When a bizarre fall caused seven complicated fractures to my right hand (needing four surgeries), my hand therapist told me I'd never play piano again. Little by little, I applied a series of secret techniques I'd learned from the best, until I was playing Chopin Sonatas and Etudes, Rachmaninoff and Brahms to my heart's content. That hand therapist didn't know that I knew all sorts of tricks to make everything easier on my hand. I'm here to help you do the same.
Are you a dedicated intermediate to advanced level classical pianist — teen to senior — that loves playing Bach, Beethoven, Brahms and the great composers, but…
I help dedicated adult classical pianists learn music you love (in the right order) while empowering you to play with ease and joy. I'll be sharing what I learned from my studies with (name drop warning) Earl Wild at Juilliard, John Perry while getting my master's degree at U.S.C., and during private lessons with Leon Fleisher
My love of teaching began in high school when I assisted my piano teacher's students with technique. Later, while a student at Juilliard, I taught children in New York City. Then, as a teaching assistant during grad school at U.S.C., the group classes I taught were video recorded for review. The feedback from the esteemed head of pedagogy was priceless.
I’m grateful for this early teaching experience. It later lead me to a position on the music faculty at Santa Clara University and then opening a music school in Half Moon Bay, CA. My mission was to educate through joy and encouragement while enriching the lives in my community with exceptional music.
In recent years, I’ve specialized in teaching adults. Their dedication and commitment is inspiring. Some are retired, many have busy working lives and family commitments, and yet adding music lessons actually helps provide balance to their lives while improving their work proficiency.
I’m in my genius zone when I’m helping my students make the most of their limited practice time. Improving as a pianist is never about practicing more, it’s always about practicing smarter. And that’s what I’m here to help you do.
