In my teens, I'd spend an hour on each Chopin Étude, 5 hours for five études, before I even got to other repertoire. Hard work. Wasted time.
At Juilliard, Earl Wild taught me to cut straight to what mattered and eliminate everything that didn't.
It took years to fully apply it.
The turning point happened when I was in Paris, days before my orchestral debut of Rhapsody in Blue in California. One hour on a borrowed piano. When I finished, my friend said: “Wow, you sure got a lot done in an hour.”
That precision is what I now call Piano Ninja Tricks™. And when my hand was crushed in an accident, and I was told I'd never play again, those same tricks gave me back the music I thought I'd lost forever. It taught me exactly what it feels like to have your heart calling you to play music that feels impossible.
You don't need an injury to know that pain. You just need a better way to practice.
You love Bach Suites, Chopin Ballades, Beethoven's late Sonatas. But…
Are you working against yourself without knowing it? The wrong repertoire choice plus unknown poor practice habits is a combination that can keep you stuck for years.
In the Piano Ninja Tricksters Club, I'll help you choose music that's right for your level right now and practice it the way Earl Wild, John Perry, and Leon Fleisher taught me to.
Good habits in. Bad habits out.
Progress that's finally predictable.
Whether you already have a teacher or not, think of me as your piano strategist sitting beside you at every practice session.
Inside the Piano Ninja Tricksters Club you'll have access to short-form videos on fingering, technique, repertoire selection, and practice strategy… exactly what you need, when you need it.
Whether you have a teacher or you're working on your own, the problem is usually the same — what happens between lessons, or between practice sessions, is where progress gets lost. That's exactly where I come in.
The piano bench doesn't have to be a lonely place to figure things out.
I've spent 50 years performing on stages in France, Spain, Poland, Italy, China, and across the United States — and 40 years teaching what I learned from Earl Wild, John Perry, and Leon Fleisher to pianists just like you.
What's inside this membership is the distillation of all of it. The tricks that actually move the needle. Nothing filler, nothing generic.
